“I’ve being working out with Athos since March 2017, I was lucky to have Athos as my trainer, I told him I was feeling back pain and also felt tired when I was standing too long. After 8 weeks of training with him I felt so much improvement in my posture and becoming back pain-free, I felt so much strong. I started doing exercises that I thought was reserved just for athletes, I like his motivation and I feel great after his workouts.” – Alexandre Alves
Recognizing my passion for helping others combined with my love for an active lifestyle, becoming a certified personal trainer seemed like the right fit. My focus when training is on our mind-body awareness and how movement in various ways positively affects all aspects of our life. We all have a body so let’s help each other keep it healthy for the long run!
Having always been an active individual playing organized sports from a young age, fitness and movement has been a huge part of my life. From playing community hockey and field hockey leagues growing up on the North Shore to a high performance varsity level, you can still find me on the ice and field on any given weekend. I’ve also coached youth and high school field hockey teams. When the weather is nice, I’ll be rollerblading, running, hiking or playing tennis.

My yoga journey began over 4 years ago and I immediately discovered the physical and mental benefits of a regular focused practice. I completed my 200 Hour Vinyasa and Hatha training at Karma Teachers in Gastown April 2018. Since graduating I began teaching at Karma Teachers as well as regularly teaching a group of friends on the North Shore. I now teach to a corporate business as well as substitute for Oxygen Yoga. I’m passionate about incorporating the practice of pranayama and meditation into my classes and I am committed to using yoga as a method of making a difference in my local community. I like to encourage people to challenge themselves throughout practice but to be mindful of their own bodies limitations, thus to allow a free-flowing mind.
I arrived from the UK in January 2018 with my partner deciding that we needed a new adventure in our lives! I took up snowboarding on arrival where I then taken every opportunity to get up to the mountains. I am a keen fitness fanatic taking part in cross-fit style training and I am a 2nd Dan black-belt in Shotokan Karate. When I’m not being active I love to watch documentaries, eat delicious food and hang out with friends!
